They did build some outboard versions, 4 rotors to hear my friend tell it.

Yes, those 4 rotor racing outboards were putting out about 200 hp/liter
normally aspirated in the early 70's. They had about 500 cc chambers. It
was a 400 hp engine that probably weighed about 150 lb. and fit in a
outboard cowl that would hold about a 500 cc two-stroke. Not fair! Get
rid of them!
