On my RV-6A I initially had a set up similar to Hatches in that the
radiators dumped the hot air under the cowling. I found on hot days the
undercowl temperature would gradually increase and the engine
temperature would slowly but steadly increase. I place louvers on the
side of the cowling which helped, but eventually I built exit ducts
routing the radiator hot air to the louvers. That solved the problem
and I have had no problem with the radiator temperature since.
