All kidding aside there still is a desire out there for auto injection.

How about one step simpler.  Put an apex-oil tank in and plumb a line
into the fuel tank with a pump with which you can transfer a known
quantity.  For example, one pull on the transfer pump for each gallon
of gas added to the tanks.  You still have to carry enough oil for
your entire journey, but you get to avoid standing on the ramp and
measuring the stuff.
