Having already purchased a 2.85 - 1 Ross Drive for our
project, it encourages me to learn that the engineers on the
Luscombe project chose the Ross Drive as well.

April 1 has long passed. What gives?

  Jeff,

I'm not exactly sure what it is that you don't understand ??, or
exactly where you are coming from??

Do you doubt that we purchased a 2.85 - 1 redrive, or are you
being sarcastic because I am unrealistically encouraged by their
decision to use a Ross Aero drive on their project?

What I was trying to say was this:

" If the engineers or money spenders working on the
Luscombe 8E turbine project think that the Ross drive can
reduce the engine shaft speed from 66,000 rpm to 2,200 rpm,
and hang together for any length of time, it encourages me
to think that we purchased a drive made by the same company."

Maybe this is no reason to be encouraged? I don't know?

I would appreciate it if you would explain yourself!!

Maybe he doesn't believe that the turbine Luscombe exists.

I suspect that is the case. A turbine Luscombe does not make
much sense to me either. Unless of course they plan on
certifying the engine and the gearbox. A very costly
procedure indeed!

We won't know until Jeff gets back to work on Monday.

That could be the case I guess, but I doubt it.

About a turbine powered Luscombe 8E. The guy who installed the
turbine, said that, when he found out that he could install the 150 hp
turbine for the same price as an 0-320 Lyc., he opted for the turbine.

I would make the same decision if I thought I could buy a reliable
unit to reduce the turbine shaft rpm to the proper propeller speed at an
affordable price, and evidently the Luscombe people feel like they have
   done that.

In some parts of the world, like where I live, it would be very
desirable to have a small aircraft engine that could burn Jet A for
instance. In many out of the way places, it is not only more convenient
to buy jet fuel, but also much less expensive.

If I could get my 13B to burn Jet A or diesel, I would go for it!

Even if it burned 20 to 25 gallons an hour Larry?
