You can't be serious about skycars in the hands of the general public.  They
already kill themselves in cars!  As an alternative to a traffic helicopter
perhaps but there's no way we'll see these things in suburban driveways until
kryptonite becomes the preferred power source. DS

Not every driveway but for those who can qualify as pilots.
That still leaves a huge market. Also people with the werewithall
to buy these things have longdriveways.

There has been another development lately that make skycars
more practical and that is the whole-airplane-parachute.

On the recently certified Sirus SR2 4 place airplane it 
is standard equipment.
