Hey guys, I'm not sure if you guys would know this but I'd like to take a
shot in the dark anyways. I'm looking for data that may show things like
combustion chamber area at TDC (dependant upon compression ratio
of course), the amount of air, in lbs/hr or lbs/min, a single chamber can
move, etc. etc. I would just like to know how much mass air a single
chamber can move at (x) RPM, etc. I'd like some real, hard data to
use in calculations for doing things and experimentation on a more
engineering level vs. the "hey bolt this on it'll make you go faster"
high-school nonsense.

I've always been interested in this kind of data but noone's got jack for
answers on it. They're either ignorant to the information or they've got
it stashed in their little black books.

Thanks.

Air usage depends of the volumetric efficiency. One chamber is the same
as a 1.3 liter four cycle piston engine. The VE can vary between
60% and 110% depending on tuning pipe lengths, RPM and the phase
of the moon among other things. Not of course to mention turbo's.

Surface area is not that hard to add up. The width of the rotor
times the length from apex seal to apex seal plus a little for
the combustion chamber recess. Times two. The combustion chamber
recess has changed over the years.

I don't think I have ever seen this exact information in the dozen
or so references books and SAE papers I have. Check the ACRE NL web
site for a list of technical papers and books.
