& 170 in a hard climb, but since I installed the thermostate the numbers
hold rock solid. I still see a drop in oil temp in a long 500fpm descent at
reduced rpm to approx. 165F. I suppose now I will have to come up with a oil
rad. cover for cold weather flying.

Thanks for the update Jim. IMHO you have one of the finest rad
installation
around. Your two relatively thin, large area rads are the way to go
IMHO.

In regard to thick verses thin Corky Bell says "The juggling act is
brought 
about by the fact that the second half of any core does only one-fourth 
of the work." Page 56 Maximum Boost. Something to ponder.
  
 
BTW My current efforts are to reduce the number of water rads to
one. Bringing the exhaust out the side of the cowl can achieve this end.
As I travel around the country and look at Mazda installations the
complexity and potential unreliablity of multiple rads has me worried.

BTW If someone suspects their water pump is not coping with the system
they could try a couple of these pumps in parallel temporarily. 

It is called a 
Centri-Puppy and it is made by ITT Jabsco. 15 GPM with a five food head. 
Runs off 12V and draws 8 amps. Part number is 18510-000. Has a 3/4 pipe
inlet and outlet and cost $143.49 at West Marine here in CA.
If the installation of these pumps in series with your current systems
fixes your problems then your Mazda water pump is probably cavitating 
due to excessive head or what ever.
