X-Mozilla-Keys:
BTW the end thrust from the Ford sun gear assuming
it is a 25 degree helix angle is:

Assumptions.
Torque 165 ft lbs at 4000 RPM or 125 HP 1980 inch pounds.
Radius of Ford C6 sun gear pitch diameter is 0.95 inch.
Tangential force at pitch radius 2070 pounds.
The TAN of 25 degrees is .446

The equation for end thrust verses tangential force
is Thrust = TAN (helix angle) times the tangentail force.

Thrust = .446 X 2070 pounds = 923 pounds.

It is a wonder the Mazda thrust bearings hold up for
as long as they do.

It would be worse at a helix angle of 30 degrees.
