I'm anxious to see a picture of this Wiggins thingie. I'm also curious to
know what would be wrong with 1.5" tubing ends with a rolled rib just in
from the end (ie, a beaded nipple) attached to high quality hoses with a
pair of equally high quality SS clamps at each end. (See

consider excellent clamps). If the concern is that the hoses are the weak
link, make them a swap out item every other annual and don't worry about
them.

My main objection to hose clamps on aluminum pipes is the aluminum
expands more than the stainless hose clamps and compresses the rubber.
Eventually the rubber takes a set. Yes even silicon. This is
a possible leak if not a blown off hose. With a 1.5 inch ID hose you
are looking at at a seperating force of about 50 pounds when the
cooling system pressure is 30 psi. It is kind of a wonder they work
at all. Actually the best type IMHO are the spring hose clamps used
by almost all automotive OEM's as they can expand and contract.
