off the shelf from Racing Beat.

 They have developed their own aluminum end/intermediate housings. They
claim an improved housing design with treated/coated wear surfaces which
will provide the required durability for aircraft use. They claim the
Racing Beat housings dont have the required durability to withstand high
output and allow a reasonable TBO in an aircraft application. I dont back
their claims, I'm just telling you what he said.

 They claim to have built all aluminum engines up to 4 rotors again for an
aircraft application under a DARPA contract. The pictures they displayed of
their single rotor had an end housing with integrated planetary PSRU.
Looked like a very nice piece. Still may turn out in the end to be nothing
but snake oil. I'll let you know when I can get a chance to take a look.
 With the Santa Ana blowing over the weekend it was actually hotter at my
house in San Diego than it was in Phoenix! :-)
