That's what got me started on the whole ignition system kick. As it
turns out, it is not a small deal, and spark plug configuration is very
critical. Unfortunately, the plugs that work the best don't last as
long as the highly shrouded stock pieces.
Isn't that a great book? I photocopied it because I read repeatedly for
a few years and didn't want to mess up my original copy.

Do you have the 1969 edition or the 1981 version? They are quite
different.
The spark plugs are not necessarily in the right positons for best BSFC.
I think emmissions had more to do with their placement. It would be
interesting to install more plugs.
