How were you able to control rail pressure so that it started at 54 and went to
60 psi? I'm using the stock vacuum fuel relief on the 20B (3 primary and 3
secondary injectors)and my idle rail pressure is 30 psi, but increases to 50 psi
at 10 psi of boost. I would like to increase it 40+ and go to 60psi at 5 psi of
boost (for better atomization), but I haven't figured out a system to do this.
Does somebody make an adjustable vacuum/boost fuel pressure controller?
In my few initial flights I've noticed some pretty high fuel flows(18 gph), but
the computer map that comes with the engine controller is probably in a safe
rich setting. I know Dave Atkins has been able to lean his out (NA 13B) to get
good hp and 9 gph at 8K' using the same engine controller. We've spent a lot of
time in previous discussions on how lean you can safely run a rotary. In some
previous testing, I noticed reduced hp as we leaned the engine based upon prop
spd and higher TIT (turbine inlet temp). I also think I remember that a lot of
excess fuel (rich) was the way they got turbo temps manageable at higher rpms. I
thought you should be able to have lower turbo temps by going to a very lean
mixture dictated by TIT (1,700 max for inconel wheel).
Can you give any advice on this?
