Hate to be a pedant (use your dictionary), but even if one ignores the
non-planarity of the rotor face and merely comments on the planar
projection of it, isn't the shape rectangular?

Square pistons has a better sound to it than rectangular pistons.

I am so glad we have so few problems intalling rotaries
that we can discuss profound subjects like Horse Power 
verses Pferd Staerke and wheather the wankel is 1.3 Liters
two stroke piston engine equavalent or 3.9 liters six cylinder
four stroke piston engine equavalent. :-)
