Did I say just "diesel". If so I meant diesel fuel burning rotary.
The Wankel heavy fuel, direct injection engine is not a true diesel.
A spark is used to ignite the fuel. You can see the spark plug
in this picture. It is a good engine but 100 HP is tops. wandir1.jpg
I would build a one rotor turbo charged Mazda
based engine to replace the O-200. Because the e-shaft and end covers
were designed for a two rotor the engine becomes absolutely cannon
proof when cut down. It would be no problem getting as much as 200 HP
out of
a turbo one rotor for takeoff and climb. The weight with PSRU less rads
would be about 190 pounds. The dry weight of the O-200
is about 200 pounds. IMHO the rotary engine would last a lot longer
than an O-200 running at 125 HP and you would have high altitude
HP in the bargain.
