I don't think it was caused by the nitriding process since the other side of
the leg was perfectly flat.
I have to believe that the clamping force of all those rotor housing bolts
would flatten out any minor warp. How much, I don't know. Its just not as
thick as, say, a cylinder head or piston engine block. I would think it
would be pretty easy to measure the deflection under load from the tension
bolts of the rotor housing, but I don't know off hand the modulus of
elasticity of cast iron, or how to figure it, especially considering the
water jacket hollow space.
