I found trying to model a 3-D solid very frustrating in AutoCAD. It was
really un-intuitive.. I felt like everytime I wanted to make a 3D
object,
AutoCAD wanted to turn it into a 2D object.. As a result, I would
sometimes end up with objects perpendicular to the paper.. They didn't
show up the way I wanted on paper.. :-)
No competition with SolidWorks, this system,(when released), is easier
and at a fraction of the cost. All axis rotation is 3 button mouse, but can
be
set by x,y,x coordinates.
I am, however, using AutocCAD 2000 for my personal work at present.
A student version of 2000 is, I believe, currently available for around
$300.
