That's been my goal, but it's been rather elusive. With this
latest prop I didn't change the pitch, just the chord and blade
thickness.
I stayed in the pattern this morning, with the new prop. Since
the climb rate wasn't improved, and I was late for work, I just
came back down. Prop 2 (the previous prop) was 4650 rpm cruise,
4500 rpm climb, 80 knots climb, 110 knots cruise.
I expect this new prop is about 4700 climb, cruise unknown,
maybe 4900. Pitch is about 40 inches.
I think the airflow through the fan at 147 knots is about all
the prop and engine HP can handle. The duct is acting like a
transmission, gearing me down to 110 knots. Thus my next idea is
just to change the transmission ratio (duct) so it's closer to 1:1
instead of 4:3. Just an analogy, perhaps inacurate.
