Hold everything folks. I am finding that some of these
yellow wire fans work and some don't. The ones that
don't work require power on the red wire. Of course
then the fan starts working as a fan and needless to say
this is not what we want. I tried modifying the circuit
with no luck as I don't have specs on the chips used.
I can't even find a logo to track down the manufacturer
of the chips. I suspect the hall effect sensor/s is integrated
on the chip with the coil drivers as most all fans 
now-a-days are brushless.

I gave up. I am going to use the fan rotor, magnet, bearings
and shaft and install an off the shelf $1 Hall Effect sensor from
Digi Key that I have the skematic and specs on. This will
all happen next week some time. In that case you will need
the red wire for the 9 volt battery. The result will
have no magnetic drag unlike the stock fans.

BTW each fan has two bearings. Just because it says
"ball bearing" does not mean it has TWO ball bearings :-)

I am finding out a lot of things about these fans I did
not realy want to know:-)

BTW Digi Key also has a suitable C&K selector switch for $5.
