I think if you redesign the duct for high speed you
will also have to redo the intake system and cowl
to reduce the blockage. I think that is one of
the reasons the Ramona ducted fan has that long
sheet metal shaft extension housing.


Perhaps you could put the engine in the back
seat and run an extension shaft out the back :-)
