Analog Devices makes a solid-state accelerometer.  I'm going
to get one of these and install it, so I can get some numbers
on what's going on.  Maybe it's all in my head!  Right now
it's just subjective.

Good idea Perry. Would give early warnings of major problems.
Digi Key sells some low cost units with built in amps.
