What is the design VNE Chris of the new plane?

We're designing for about 350.

What HP level do you guys intend to run the three rotor at?

We'll have 280 available for takeoff according to Bruce and we'll cruise
just like anyone else, 75% power.  Unless it's a race.

Which PSRU do you intend to use?

We're using all of Tracy's peripherals.
The new airplane, without giving away too many details, will be like
flying a Lexus, comfort wise.  An airplane for the plus size pilot.

A Reno racer might be better designed around a small pilot and designed
for that specific speed regime.  Compressability becomes a problem at
those speeds.  Airfoils optimized for high speed flight don't actually
do that well in high G turns.  Automatic droop leading edge? Possible.
As will any design, it's all trade-offs.

Even the ever slick Lancair IV, which does so well in it's designed
speed range, would need over a 1000 HP, maybe 2000, to even dream of
competing with the Merlins.

In my honest opinion, an optimized aiframe with a maxxed out 20-26B
might be able to win.  We would need need to crack the books and play
with it on paper (CRT) though.  All this would detract from the current
aircraft project though and since I don't currently have anything to
fly...well, you understand.  The idea is just too fun to pass up though.

I wasn't thinking of the unlimited class. I was thinking of the
homebuilt class. I think they call it the "Sportsman" class.
350 MPH whould have won this year and beat the factory Lancair IV.
