OK Chris. I understand your desire to keep the details under wraps until closer
to having a flying prototype. I'd like to propose sending you my dimensions and
mission and see whether your project is a potential fit. I'm 6'2" standing, 39"
sitting, 240#, about 24" shoulder to shoulder. If you add 2" for headphone strap
and "comfort", that works out to a 41" headroom requirement, which is where most
aircraft really fail my comfort test. The other area is in side-by-side seating,
because I hate being cramped. 43" cabin widths suck; I want at least 48". The
Velocity XL is about as small (width & height) a cabin as I could stand, and its
even iffy on the headroom depending on how it is built.
So am I going to be comfortable in your aircraft?

Russell I have some of the same problems. That is why I went with a
four place KIS Cruiser.

I'm going to get in hot water for this but here goes. I'm 6'5" 270 lbs
(down from the 307 I was at when we started the cockpit mockup. My
whole family has Norsemen genes from both sides of the family. My
father strapped me to the roto-tiller when I was 8. It's hard proving
you're smart when you should be in pro-wrestling (did not play High
school football either, 4 years of drafting instead). So we're big.
Without divulging specifics;
A 6'7" person will have 2 inches of headroom with his headset on.
Wide as a GMC Jimmy. 3 normal people side by side (in Cessna comfort
mode)
Room for a jump seat in back for light people.
Trike (prototype fixed)
Designed around rotaries (with traditional aircraft engines as
optional)
won't have any problem getting all the radiators under our cowl.

I reveal too much.
We desparately wanted to be at OSH 2000, maybe even call it the
Millenium Falcon, but, starting a new non-aerospace company and
designing/building a prototype aircraft (along with father & husband
duty) has taken more time than we thought. Our (my father, brother and
I) new goal is CopperState and the rotary prize.
We have the tail mostly done, wing skins done/ and are currently working
on the fuselage plug. Bruce Turrentine is working on our 20B (the one
he's filming) and Tracy is working on the peripherals.
I visited Oxnard a few years ago and tried on the KIS Cruiser, it was
nice, but not enough. I even went to Monterey and flew the Stallion.
Nice but pricey. Next came the Lionheart. Even pricier. So we felt
there was a market for the overweight/tall pilot. Only time will tell.

You are right Chris. I measured my KIS Cruiser and it is not as big
as I thought. The cockpit is only 43 to 44 inches wide.
Head room vertical over the seat bottom no cushion was 39 inches.
John Lynch at the Santa Paula Skunk Works (Experimental Taxiway) has
a four foot by four foot by eight foot 3D computer
controlled router for carving fuselages and other molds if you are
interested and you have the loft lines in computer form.
He does all of Klaus's prop cores.
