Rob, I think Avemco sends money to EAA. I had them during const (Velocity-20B)
but they wouldn't touch me once I had the plane's engine running ( before
taxiing). I ended up going to Lockton Agency out of Denver for liability only
coverage thru London Aviation Underwriters out of Seattle. They gave me $1MM for
about $1,200 and it's pretty restrictive. I also went to AOPA's Ins hotline and
they got me a quote for liability for about $1K, but it took awhile and was too
late. They said they could get hull coverge after 100 hrs, but it cost about 5%
of the value as I recall. Velocity's have not been good to Avemco, so they make
the terms impossible to meet.

Overall, liability is available, but hull is not. If you have an auto engine it
will be more expensive than normal. I think RV's may be able to get a deal thru
a group buying arrangement. I don't know if Lancairs, Glastars, etc have a
similar arrangement.
