I don't think the Airliner usage is relevant. The 777 only has them on
the airframe side air-conditioning system, which is not subject to
anything like the vibrations of an intermittent combustion engine
connected to a prop, (even a rotary:-)). Wear is probably not a big
factor in a race-car that gets inspected and rebuild after each race
weekend either. I thing Grant has a valid concern here.
Use teflon coated O-rings
if you can find them in that size. Anodizeing the sleeve
will surface harden it greatly. The sleeve will be cheap
to replace as well.
