On the face of it this seems like a good idea.  It could possibly improve
safety and enhance the image auto engines in airplanes.  But I think the
problem with it may be contained in the word "experimental".  It is
especially true among those of us who are willing to depart from convention
and use auto engine power; that we also have pretty definite ideas on how it
should be done.

In exchanging ideas among the builders of just one type of airplane (in this
case, Velocitys) I found little common ground.  One is convinced that a V6
is best, one a rotary, one a Subaru.  Turboed, normally aspirated, cooling
system designs, intake/exhaust. . . .  everyone has a different idea.
Multiply this by the number of different homebuilds, 2-place, 4-place,
canard, tractor, etc, etc; and then try to figure out what is 'standard'.

Unfortunately, if you want 'standard' you may have to put in a 4-cylinder
Lycoming.
