You're Invited to the 2nd Annual Shady Bend Fly In!
Saturday March 4, 2000
(Rain Date: Sunday, March 5)

Come visit our picturesque airstrip on the banks of the historic Suwannee
River. Last year 60 + planes and 100+ people came to enjoy the beauty and
hospitality of "old Florida."

Activities: Fly by of Tracy Crook's Rotary powered RV-4 . Tracy's hanger and
machine shop will be open and he'll give a brief talk on the rotary and his
latest developments.

Food:    Coffee and doughnuts starting 9:30 am
Hamburgs and Coneys ("white hot dogs" from Syracuse, NY) with all the
trimmings; soda ; desserts

What to bring:    A lawn chair.. your plane (cars are OK too).. flying
stories!

How to get there by air: N  29° 49.014      W 082° 55.552 Unicom 122.9
N/S grass runway     3000 X 100 feet;  1000 ft clear zone at each end.
Jacksonville sectional chart; 15 nautical miles NE of Cross City VOR on the
thirty degree radial.

Accommodations: Free Camping "under the wing."  All other accommodations

By car:  I-75 to the Alachua exit (north of Gainesville).  Take US 441W
towards High Springs; turn LEFT on Rt 27/41 - go through High Springs
downtown.  Turn RIGHT on SR 340 W. Take SR 340  approximately 18 miles to NW
55th Ave (you'll go through 2 flashing red lights prior to reaching 55th
Ave).  Turn right on 55th Ave. Take 55th Ave for one mile and turn left on
NW 50th St (a dirt road).  The road will take you past the airstrip on the
right.  Turn right on NW 72nd Way.  Turn right on the gravel road or the
next paved road - both will take you to the Flight Shack where the food will
be served.

The Legal Stuff:  Shady Bend is a PRIVATE airstrip.  All flight operations
are at the PILOTS RISK.
Watch for ultralights and planes operating without radios.
