These were a trouble-free unit, since the magnets were spinning, and
battery power was not required to excite the rotor. I used to handle the
warranty claims for Suzuki in Canada back then and there was no return
history for these units at all.

I had one of these motorcycles and this alternator was the first thing to go. (after 15yrs).  took me the longest time to figure out where the heck the alternator was and how it worked...
