Paul,
While I agree that a lot of the examples you gave above are descriptive
of problems with those specific devices, I dont think that applies to the
EFI display. My plan would be to pick and choose from the various
parameters available for display and set the machine up to display the ones
I wish to monitor while on the ground. After setup I would probably never
change it in flight.

Yes but how? I need specific information or ideas on switches or keys
needed and
programing procedures.

Paul,
I have the complete manual for my AV8 engine monitor as a PDF file. Its a
huge file (2.7MB) so obviously you wouldnt want to post it to the list, but
if you would like I could send it to you off-list for your reference. I
havent looked at it in a long while and I havent played with the instrument
in over a year, but my recall is that its operated much like the procedure
that Ken Powell suggested. Let me know if you want it. Also you might want
to take a look at Audio Flight Avionics website.

As for the suggestion of simply displaying an "OK" I dont think that is
appropriate for the functions that this thing is displaying. If your
leaning for cruise flight and you display O2 to aid in the leaning
procedure you want to see numbers, not "OK". Same thing goes if your trying
to determine whether or not you have sufficient fuel to make a cross
country destination. You want to see what your current fuel flow is in real
numbers, not "Fuel Flow OK". The "OK" or "within limits" display is fine
for stuff like oil pressure, bus voltage, etc... stuff that a typical
engine monitor scans where you dont really care what it is as long as its
within the normal operating range. But thats not the type of info that this
display is presenting.
Price? That depends on whether or not it does what I want when its done,
doesnt it? It could be totally worthless. : - )
But if it does what I want it to, its accurate, its comparable in user
friendliness to my AV8, and its well made it would be worth $400 - $500 as
an optional add on to Tracy's EFI controller to me. I think thats about
what it would cost me to add the features to my current engine monitor.
Mike Wills
I will pass on the Manual Mike. BTW what does an AV8 cost?
