What type high temp epoxy should I use to hold the peripheral ports in
the rotor housing? What type devcon is used to fill the old unused side
ports? Thank you,Brad

Here is another old message on the subject.
I knew I had this data around somewhere. Here it is SAE 841017
Recent Tech. Devel. of High Powered Rotary Engine at Mazda

Note the VE is well above 120% in several cases.

The port transitions to a square from a round. See the previous picture.
Intake port area is 20 square cm wide open. HP is 280 at 9300 RPM.
Jim Mederer is getting about 320 HP from his design but I would
settle for 280 HP from a NA 13B. I would guess the pipe diameter
to be roughly two inches.

Jim sacrificed one tension bolt with no obvious ill effects.
Mazda apparently squeezed it in between tension bolts as did
Everett.

BTW the official Mazda racing peripheral port rotor housings are
going for well over $1000. each.

The BMEP at this RPM is about 12.3 Kg/Cm^2
The BMEP at 6000 RPM is about 11.1 Kg/Cm^2

The minimum BSFC occurs at about a BMEP of 11.5 Kg/Cm^2 and is
about 210 g/per HP hour. It gradually increases below that and rapidly
increases above that.

As far as idle goes Jim Mederer did not think the slide throttle was
worth
the effort. He felt the way Everett did it was good enough. In other
words put a butterfly valve as close to the actual port as possible.

Mazda got the highest BMEP at 6000 RPM with this port with an
intake pipe length about 22 inches measured from
the housing. The exhaust pipe was one meter long. For max HP
at 9300 RPM the intake pipe should be 170 mm.

To get the full story I would buy the SAE paper.
