Hi Paul,
Great work! I concur that Barry is "bang on" (as an Irish
CFI says).
I think that the order of the displayed items should be in
descending
order of importance in the traditional occidental manner,
starting in the
upper left and going to the right. I'm not sure that MPG
would be my
third choice in order of importance. Perhaps FF. (It's nice
to know fuel
is flowing.) Also, I don't understand why TD, TA, and SF
are important
to me when flying. The less clutter in a display, the
better, especially
with older eyes.
Those are important because the system is in-the-air programmable.
(The display itself will not be but the EFI computer is.)
There are two complete EFI systems. One can be programed while the engine
is running
on the other. You then switch to the newly programed unit and let the
engine run on it to see how well it works. If not switch back. This is
the way
Tracy designed it and it it is not optional. It is also working very well.
This
allows you to taylor the fuel supply and ignition map to your airplane and
prop combination. It also provides a back up computer if one fails.
Paul,
Glad to see this has come full circle and you are back to a display for
the EC2 and not building a complete engine monitor system. On the subject
of the EC mapping parameters (TD, TA, SF) I agree that there would be some
value in displaying these when setting up the fuel injection. However once
the EFI map is created and debugged these parameters do become clutter on
the display. Can the display be set up to turn off these parameters?

You must have mental telepathy Mike. I was just now thinking about that. It
might be worthwhile to scroll those off the display or merely have a switch
that turns them off. I am going down to TimeLine surplus in Torrance today to
pickup a couple of 40X4 LCDs for the prototype. Tracy will of course use
new parts in the production version.
