Subject: Europa_Mail: Charried cowling
On a recent inspection I found severe blackening of the inside of the lower
cowl adjacent to the bottom of the silencer box. The fibres seemed to be
intact but could be readily scraped away, almost through to the outside. It
is difficult to move the silencer system to provide more spacing from box.
It there is no contact, a reflecting stainless plate bonded to the inside
would protect, otherwise a standoff insulating layer is needed. Unless of
course you go to the trouble of reforming the cowling shape. (912UL)

Hey David, how are you doing? Are you the guy that had that "off airport landing"
at OSH last year. You are one lucky guy :-)
Thinking of putting a rotary in the Hummel Bird to replace the Vee Dub? The Wankel
GmbH 75 HP model would be just great in that airplane. I would love to see that
happen.
Poor man's P51. The turbo Wankel model would be even better up there in Santa Fe.
Are you flying it to Sun & Fun this year?
