Here is a start on an engine installation check list.
A. Radiant heat shields between all rads and exhaust components.
B. No cantilevered plumping fittings. Fittings that have
mass extending out from the engine or PSRU are not allowed. They
could
vibrate and break. Use a very short fitting and flex line instead.
C. No rigid lines carrying high pressure fuel or oil.
Use double braided SS flex hose instead.
D. No hose clamps on un-beaded coolant pipes. It is much better to
use
Wiggins couplings on all plumbing pipes over about one inch in
diameter. This goes for radiator fittings as well. Use AN hose
and fittings on lines one inch or smaller.
E. Support all wires every two or three inches with Adel clamps or
tie wraps.
E1 Do not clamp anything to the engine mount.
F. Use fire shield tubing on all fuel and oil hoses.
G. Enclose all wires that are required to keep the engine running in
fire shield tubing. Silicon wires are good. Teflon wires are best.
Thin
steel tube wire shields are also good.
H. Do not use double layer SCEET ducting in an intake system if
there
is a possibility it will be subject to a vacuum due to icing etc.,
etc..
Feel free to suggest other no no's.
Details like these are probably the leading cause of aircraft
engine power failures.
