Hi Paul,
Welcome back from Sun & Fun, sounds like a good time was had. Sorry to
hear about Dave Atkins broken rudder pedal and yes, Van has had an Service
bulleting out with some reinforcement leafs that require welding to the
rudder pivot tube.

I guess after my emergency stop when my engine surged, I should check my
rudder pedals as I am certain there was a bit of pressure seeing I left
black rubber tire marks for 300 ft.

Well, I went to a local Oil Seal distributor to try and acquire a seal
capable of retaining higher oil pressure. The good news was "yes" a
suitable seal capable of retaining 50 psi oil pressure was doable. The bad
news was the minimum order was 600 seals{:<(.

But, I will try several others local distributors. I would think someone
would have a replacement for the National seal but with better
characteristics.

In any case, interested to hear about Sun & Fun from all who were able to
make it.

I was very disappointed that Dave Atkins did not get a chance to compete in the Sun
100
due to those RV rudder pedal problems.

I am really sorry you could not make it Ed.

There were so many there I should have made a list. As I recall I saw Chris Gentry,
Bulent
Aliev, Bill Eck, Bill Freeman and John Moran just to name a few. I should have
compiled
a list but Tracy is probably in a better position to do that as I was not always next
to Tracy's
plane. Maybe we can have people sign a guest book at Tracy's plane next year.

We had standing room only when Tracy gave his tent talk at 9 AM sunday morning.

Tracy and Laura invited me to a Glass Goose dinner at a custom private home on the
only
cliff overlooking a lake in Florida. The highlight of the evening was when we
went downstairs in the hangar to see the owners Glass Goose.
Guess what kind of engine was installed :-)

Ed I think the best solution for your set up is the scavenge pump. The better seal
may not do
the job. Tracy and me are REAL REAL curious how that new manifold of yours is
working.
We would like to see how fast your airplane now is. The excellent static RPM numbers
you uploaded
have teased us a bit :-) Sounds like you might be able to win the 200 MPH prize.
