Does the fuel line friction have anything to do with it... outboard
tank being further away?

Why are you sucking from both Rich? If you do that you might want
to consider a header tank and return the fuel to the header tank.

It was the easiest way to connect them... just 'T' them together in
the wing & run one line down to the selector valve. I ruled out a
header tank for extra weight & work reasons. I also already bought the
Andair selector valve with return connections.
I don't know if I mentioned this earlier... I'm building the Zenith
CH-801 4 seater.

If that is a high wing airplane as I suspect it would be best
to copy the Cessna 172 fuel system and run two feed and return
lines down & back to each wing tank. There is a both position on
the Cessna fuel valve on my 182 and that usually draws more fuel
from one tank for some strange reason.
