Looking at the MT prop - looks like they over insert
and load balls from the resulting gap, and a snap ring
and washer keeps the prop pulled out in static
condition. The mechanism for holding and stabilizing
the screwjack looks pretty complex - lots of parts and
bearings.

Looked at a cut away of the McCauly - they use a full
circle, almost true thrust, ball bearing set. They
also over insert and use a sort of super valve keeper
type retention, and also a snap ring and washer to
hold it out. They use phenolic links to drive the pins
on the blades, and replace them at overhaul.
