IMHO from a software point of view this is Microsoft's biggest crime of all.

The thing I don't get about their supposed remedy, to break Microsoft
into two companies, is that it preserves the monopoly.  One company
would
still have the operating system, thus it would be a monopoly.  I think
the gov doesn't know how to solve this problem.

It certainly is not the ultimate solution but it might give the application 
guys a chance.

The fundamental problem IMHO is O.S. software is mistakenly covered under the 
copyright laws written for paintings and literature.
