IMHO from a software point of view this is Microsoft's biggest crime of all.

Perhaps a tiny exaggertation?  "Steals billions"?  I sent in my
contribution many times with eyes open, and got good, useable
products in return.  Who got put out of work?  IBM mainframe
builders?  Nasty computers to work on, ever use JCL?  People
selling $50K workstations with $25K app software?   My heart
bleeds.  Who cried when the buggy whip makers got creamed?
PCs have permitted all of us to do this newsletter and other
computer tools and get access to a lot of neat info at a pretty
cheap price.  Microsoft has helped make this happen.

I really don't know which OS is best.  I do not dislike
Linux (never used it) nor do I love Windows (is has problems)
but I don't see Bill Gates as the anti-Christ and Linus as the
savior.  If Linux provides a good tool which is easy to use,  and
has a lot of apps, it will do well.  If not, it won't.  Same for
Windows.

No, No, Bill people working on and selling PC software for companies 
Bill Gates put out of business. There are legions.

The PC itself did those other things you mentioned. The PC would
have succeeded with out Windows.
