I have seen it done both ways. I was thinking maybe some of the race
car guys selling race car chassis parts might have some made up.
They have been used on aircraft and race cars for at least thirty
years. Probably a lot longer on aircraft dating back to 
WW I

Does not take long to make one on a lathe.
