I'm impressed too. In comparing the photo of the old prop shaft to the
new
one I noticed the old one doesn't have the taper and larger OD near the
prop
flange. My question; is this a larger OD than the old shaft, and how
much?
Is this shaft included on the current undelivered redrives?

is a single piece. The current version is a 35mm shaft. The new one is
45mm. The first 21 drives ordered will be the current version with a 35mm

noticed that the price of the RD-1(A) (on my website) was increased to $2350
(without flywheel, the 86 - 88 Mazda RX7 automatic flywheel is used). This

I must point out that the RD-1A version has not flown yet. I don't sell
anything that I have not personally flight tested, so none have shipped yet.
I expect to do first flight on the new version in about 6 weeks. Sorry,
improvements like this come at a price. Builders who ordered the original
RD-1 and not yet received them can upgrade to the new version for an
additional $450. Keep in mind that I'm not saying there is anything wrong
with the first version. I'm still flying that design and as long as the
prop and operational restrictions on it are observed (wood or composite
only) and only recreational aerobatics, it will work just fine. The new
version was developed in response to requests for metal and constant speed
prop capability as well as unlimited aerobatics.
