PLEASE take the AD seriously. I know of three, repeat three,
catastrophic crank failures on Continentals in the last six months. One was
on a factory reman with very few hours. All were on Mex Cessnas flying in
the bush, very hard usage, but it's still scary to me. There was one
fatality and the pilot of another, a friend of mine, is so banged up it's
unlikely he'll ever get a medical again, or maybe even be able to walk well.
None of the three dings will make the FAA stat sheets, and probably only the
reman will be reported to Continental as a waranty issue. But the pool of
airplanes this could have happened to does not number more than 75, likely
under 50.

I am taking it seriously. I am worried about selling the airplane
and then having some clown suing me for allegedly not doing the AD's
correctly.
