BTW you know Linux has really arrived when there is
a book out called "Upgrading and Repairing PCs, Linux Edition".
comes with a bootable diagnostic program on CD. Works with Windows,
DOS, NT, OS2, Unix, Linux you name it.
First time ever in the entire history of personal computers that a
diagnostics program comes on a bootable disk. Even in the old days of DOS
Microsoft would never allow an applications software company to
ship a DOS bootable disk. It was a pain in the butt when
you needed to diagnose a dead computer. You always had to have
an official DOS bootable disk lying around so you could
load the OS and then the diagnostic programs.
