It's a very large mall!  Over 100 stores...when built, it was the largest
in the United States (Marketplace Mall, Rochester, NY).  I've used some
runways that  are shorter than the parking lot in that mall...in fact, my
first flight instructor had a Skyhawk, and even though I was learning in a
Cherokee, I trained, soloed and started my cross country flights from a
1600 foot turf field with a 50 foot chimney right at the north end of the
field (Honeoye Falls), and a field of oats at the south end.    That's
where he kept his plane.  That field was a lot shorter than the parking lot
at Marketplace and he never semed to have a problem.

I think a good pilot could get a 172 into a 300 foot field. You just need 
to do what Cessna tells you not to do and that is
slip it in.  Try it at altitude first because it pitch bucks somewhat
with full flaps due to turbulence over the elevator. I was never able
to get it to depart in this situation but I did not try all that 
hard either. I rarely fly a 172 alone and the passengers 
(even the check out pilots) usually get a little upset :-)

I think you could probably get it into something you could never get it
out of.
