I need a lower HP small rotary of around 40 HP for a sort of Hummel-Bird, to
replace the Half VW. I have so far designed around the Wankel Germany
LCR-407, that I could mortgage my house and sell my family into slavery for
(bloody expensive - they want $8000 for the aircraft version with that
horrible belt drive, and about $4500 for a basic go-kart version).

The Norton/mid west rotary is even dearer.

I have heard reference to rotary snow mobile rotaries a few times here. Does
anyone have any leads as to details (Weight, HP), reputation, number
produced, and availability? I take it that these are no longer in production
or supported.

I once had a link to a manufacturer of rotaries for wave runners. Can anyone
point me in the right direction?

There are some out there if you can find them. Some guy had a whole bunch
at Sun & Fun as I recall Tracy and Laura telling me. He wanted to sell the
whole batch. If he is at Oskosh I will get his name and address.

Also you might find a Suziki motor cycle around someplace with
a rotary. Search the web.

Paul Lamar

The Moller engines are based on an OMC rotary produced between about '69
and '74.  They were available in Evinrude snowmobiles IIRC.  They weigh
about 50 lbs and were factory rated at 32 hp early and 40 hp later.  They
are air cooled and get lighter if the cooling fan is removed.  Good luck
finding any.  There was a place called Dave's marine many years ago that
specialized in OMC rotaries but I don't recall where in the US they were
located.
