There was a discussion on rec.aviation.homebuilt a
few months ago about the Cessna 337 (377? I never
can remember...)  For those of you who don't
recognize the model number, this is the Cessna with
2 engines setup in a push-me/pull-you form.  One
engine in the nose as a tractor, one in the tail as
a pusher, twin booms out to the tailfeathers.

There were 2 big problems cited with this design:

  1. Cooling of the rear engine is difficult due
to location.  Configuring the aircraft so that both
engines cool equally in a variety of conditions
(taxing, takeoff, cruise) is very hard, bordering on
impossible.  This may be less of an issue with the
Leon's design or Paul's drawing since the engines
are co-located and water cooled.

  Since these are water cooled, cooling should not be a major issue.

  With a pair of 180-200 hp 13b's, she otta climb like a raped ape.

   'Course, all those "xperts" in that newsgroup all informed me a 13b
was a bad choice for aircraft use. Go figure!:-)
