We have a problem here Bill. The block is taped for metric threads.
Do you know of any adapter fittings that will screw into a metric thread?
What size is this thread guys? All my end housings are at the hangar.

Should be able to machine up a bushing to adapt to US threads, but
this may make the fitting size too small.

Is this a metric tapered pipe thread or a straight metric bolt thread?
How much flowrate?  Seems like the line sizes being quoted indicate
a large flowrate (do I remember 1/2 or 5/8 ID lines?) which needs
a low restriction fitting.  If the engine is apart it would seem simple
enough to drill and tap the engine for tapered pipe thread AN elbow.
 There is a problem with orientation, at least potentially with tapered
elbows. I beat this on my fuel pump which had a built in male AN-6
fitting, by using a steel Aeroquip hydraulic fitting which is an elbow
with a free-spinning nut (female side) and a male on the other side.
It permits any orientation and then you lock down the nut.  Is there
room for something like this - tapered pipe to AN elbow or tapered
pipe to AN straight with the alignable elbow?

If it is a straight metric bolt thread, how about the use of a slightly
modified firewall fitting, like that used on AC fuel pumps?  They
have a threadless section and use a locking nut with an o-ring
cutout.  Orientable, locks well.  Will need to retap to US threads.
What does the factory stick in this hole?  Can the factory
fitting be modified to interface with AN hardware?  Seems like
that was in the original question, but I don't know enough to
really understand the problem very well.

How about a cylindrical 'fitting' with the metric threads (male,
I assume) on one end and then at 90 degrees, tapped for US
pipe thread (female)?  Make of large enough stock to take the
req'd size of pipe thread crosswise,  and if necessary turn down
the end and cut the correct metric threads on it.  If this
is a std problem on all the Mazdas, you should have no
trouble working up a order for 25 units.  A machine shop
should be happy to do them, just a matter of $$$.

Sounds like another benefit of having everyone communicating.
Once a good solution is decided on, everyone can join in
and get any special work done as a larger qty, keeping the
price down.
