Paul,
No, not much driving on dirt roads. Contrary to popular belief,
there are people in Arkansas who can read, write and cipher - to bad
that on some days I am not one of them! This explains some of the
questions that I post to the newsletter asking for help. (grin)
What is killing these engines are the xxxx's who never change the
oil. I am guessing but it appears that dirty oil has a lot more 'stuff'
(hydrocarbon byproducts) in it that clogs up all the seals on the rotor.
In this case, the side seals get stuck and cease to 'float', causing the
side housings to wear. This is the same thing that happens in a recip
to the cylinder walls when a piston ring sticks.
BTW, did Bill mean that Aeroquip 303 hose is OK for oil? He said OK
for fuel in his post, but I knew that due to our previous discussions.
It is the oil temps that concern me for 303. The write-up in Aircraft
Spruce lists the max temp as 250 degrees.
