I'm not sure of the exact location of these pins, and my suggestion may not
work if there is not enough surface for a base for the lever (enough to
locate the head of a pair of side cutting pliers) , but we used to get
hardened pins out of blind holes in injection molds by using a pair of side
cutters (to get a "bite" on the pin) and leveraging it against a block of
hardwood or brass under the jaws (to protect the mating surface of the
mold).

Working the pin out of the hole this way always worked, as long as you
weren't going to reuse the pin.

Not much place to get a bite as the pins are flush. Grinding the inside
of the diffuser until the end of the pins appear may be the best way.
