A 13B in the Miata.
A three rotor in the Millennium.
Import the three rotor Cosmo.
Bring back to the States the third gen RX7 right now.
Build a world beater sports car with a four rotor and
sell it for $100K. Since I am a retired ex Chaparral race car engineer
I will gladly help develop it for free.
Use a separate two cycle oil supply for lubing the apex seals.
It makes no sense to inject that oil from the crankcase
with all kinds of additives the rotary engine does not need.
Two cycle oil, unlike crankcase oil, burns cleanly with no deposits.
Have a tank of two cycle oil for this purpose with a warning
that the engine will shut itself off if the tank runs out of oil.
The engine will last forever if you do this. We have people
that have run the engine for 900 hours at 150 HP or more in an airplane
with very little wear by mixing two cycle oil with the gas and doing
away with the stock oil injection pump. If you keep the pump, replace
the nylon oil injection lines with steel. It makes no sense to save
pennies by using nylon when these lines are critical to the life
of the engine.
Mention in the owners manual to never ever remove the thermostat.
Your engineers know why. The Haynes repair manual for 86 through 91
has it totally wrong. Many Mazda rotary engines have been destroyed
or overheated by people removing the thermostats thinking it will help.
You will need OBD II and maybe OBD III. Put a small low cost three digit
display LED or LCD on the instrument panel that outputs a three digit code
that the owner can look up in a list of faults. It is silly to
have only a "check engine light" when there can be up to 256 different
faults under OBD II that could light the "check engine light".
Develop a turbo compound rotary Mazda. The rotary engine is ideal for turbo
compounding as it has extra waste energy in the exhaust. If you need
to know what a turbo compound engine is contact me. A 20% or more
improvement in fuel consumption is possible with a modern computer
controlled turbo compound engine. Up to 50% of the fuel energy
is now wasted in all internal combustion engine by exhaust heat.
This technology was developed in the 40's and 50's for piston aircraft
engines and can be greatly improved upon with computer control.
