economy is one of the design criteria for most automobiles...... No point in
having the pump draw 5 horsepower if 1/2 hp is all that's needed....... At

These engines were not intended for continuous operation at well over 100
hp.... you are going well beyond the original design criteria for the engine
when using it in an aircraft application.
In automotive application they were probably designed for 50 hp
continuous operation with a 50% margin or something....... anything in
excess of that is going to be intermittent and an increase in temp is
acceptable within reason..... higher temp results in greater cooling
efficiency (greater temp differential across the heat exchanger)..... and
when power is pulled back temp will rapidly return to normal.

Right on Howard. It is remarkably that Tracy's stock water pump engine cools
as well as it does.
I am looking forward to climbing with 250 HP from a turbo 13B.
