Yes, and the standard transmission starter does crank the engine.  The
biggest drawback that I can see is the starter location.  It's on the
bottom-the farthest distance from the prop c/l that you could get (because of
the 1.75" offset).  If the unit was any shorter, the starter would hit the
prop.  I have talked to them (him) about putting the starter up on the
exhaust side, (which would bring it 1" closer to the prop c/l and almost
included behind a large spinner) but he said that the person that provided
the engine pattern said it would be in the way of radiators in that position.
 Dave Atkins, was that you?  Anyway, I would prefer it up on the side.
